Programming your 2015 Chevy Equinox key fob can be done in a few simple steps, whether you have an existing recognized key or need to program a new one from scratch. This guide provides clear instructions for both scenarios, ensuring you can get your key fob working quickly and efficiently.
Programming with a Recognized Transmitter
This method is applicable if you already have a working key fob for your 2015 Chevrolet Equinox. Follow these steps to program a new key:
- Insert your currently recognized and programmed key into the ignition and turn the key to the ON/RUN position.
- Turn the ignition key to the LOCK/OFF position, and then remove the key from the ignition.
- Within five seconds of removing the recognized key, insert the new, unprogrammed key into the ignition and turn it to the ON/RUN position. Once the new key is successfully programmed, the security light on your dashboard will turn off.
- If you have additional key fobs to program, repeat steps 1 through 3 for each new key.
Programming Without a Recognized Transmitter
If you do not have a currently recognized key, or if you are programming the very first key for your 2015 Chevy Equinox, you will need to follow this longer procedure. This process will take approximately 30 minutes to complete for the first key. Ensure your vehicle is turned off and you have all the keys you wish to program with you before starting.
