Step-by-Step Guide to Replacing Your Nissan Key Fob Battery
Changing your Nissan key fob battery is a straightforward process, but it involves handling small electronic components. To protect your key fob and ensure a smooth replacement, we recommend using gloves. Latex or non-latex gloves will work perfectly. The battery you’ll need is a CR2032 3V battery, widely available in multi-packs for a few dollars. You’ll also need a small flathead screwdriver.
Here’s how to replace your Nissan key fob battery:
- Turn the Key Fob Over: Flip your Nissan key fob to the back side to begin the battery replacement process.
- Release the Emergency Key: Locate the small slider switch on the back of the key fob. Move this slider to release the mechanical emergency key.
- Remove the Emergency Key: Pull out the emergency key from the key fob. This will reveal the key fob casing and allow you to access the battery compartment.
- Find the Notch: Look for a small notch located on the top edge of the key fob, where the front and back halves of the fob meet.
- Insert the Screwdriver: Carefully insert the tip of your flathead screwdriver into the notch you just located.
- Open the Key Fob Casing: Gently twist the flathead screwdriver. This will separate the front and back halves of the key fob, opening the casing.
- Locate the Old Battery: Inside the back half of the key fob, you will see the old CR2032 3V battery.
- Remove the Dead Battery: Use the flathead screwdriver to carefully pop out the dead battery from its compartment.
- Insert the New Battery: Take your new CR2032 3V battery and insert it into the compartment with the positive (+) side facing down.
- Click the Battery into Place: Ensure the new battery is securely clicked into its position within the key fob.
- Reassemble the Key Fob: Carefully align the front and back halves of the key fob.
- Close the Casing: Squeeze the two halves of the key fob firmly together until they click back into place, ensuring a secure closure.
- Replace the Emergency Key: Slide the emergency key back into its slot in the key fob.
- Secure the Emergency Key: Move the slider switch back into its original position to secure the emergency key within the fob.
