Step-by-Step Guide to Replacing Your 2015 Nissan Sentra Key Fob Battery

Changing the battery in your 2015 Nissan Sentra key fob is a straightforward process. However, key fobs contain delicate electronic components. To protect the fob from damage and ensure a smooth battery replacement, it’s a good idea to wear gloves – latex or a non-latex alternative.

For your 2015 Nissan Sentra key fob, you’ll need a CR2032 3V battery. These batteries are widely available at most drug stores, supermarkets, and online retailers, often in multipacks for less than $5 USD. You’ll also need a small flathead screwdriver.

Follow these simple steps to replace your dead Battery For 2015 Nissan Sentra Key Fob:

  • Step 1: Access the Emergency Key

Flip your Nissan key fob to the back. You’ll see a small slider switch. Move this slider to release the mechanical emergency key. Slide the switch and pull the emergency key out of the fob. Set the emergency key aside in a safe spot.

  • Step 2: Open the Key Fob

Locate the small notch on the top edge of the key fob, where the key ring attaches. This notch is designed to help you open the fob.

Insert the tip of your small flathead screwdriver into this notch. Gently twist the screwdriver. This will start to separate the two halves of the key fob. Work your screwdriver around the seam of the fob, gently prying until the front and back halves separate completely. Take your time and avoid forcing it to prevent damage to the plastic casing.

  • Step 3: Remove the Old Battery

Once the fob is open, you’ll see the battery in one of the halves. In the back half of the fob, you’ll find the old CR2032 3V battery.

Use the flathead screwdriver to carefully pop out the dead battery. Gently wedge the screwdriver under the edge of the battery and lift upwards. Note the orientation of the battery before removing it – usually the positive (+) side is facing up or visible.

  • Step 4: Install the New Battery

Take your new CR2032 3V battery. Install the new battery with the + side facing down into the battery compartment. Ensure it is placed in the same orientation as the old battery you removed.

Press down on the new battery until it clicks securely into place.

  • Step 5: Reassemble the Key Fob

Carefully align the two halves of the key fob – the front and back pieces. Press them firmly together.

Squeeze the two halves together until you hear and feel them click back into place. Ensure there are no gaps and the fob is securely closed.

  • Step 6: Replace the Emergency Key

Finally, slide the emergency key back into its slot in the key fob until it clicks into place. Make sure the slider switch is back in its original position, securing the emergency key.

Test your key fob by pressing the lock and unlock buttons. Your 2015 Nissan Sentra should respond, indicating a successful battery replacement!
