BimmerTech Key Fob Issues: Range, Buttons & Strange Vehicle Behavior

Experiencing some odd issues with my BMW key fob after a recent remote start installation and seeking insights from the community. Support suggested the problem with my F30 might be that the key box is too far from the receiver. While I initially suspected this, the fact that the key fob is inside the vehicle makes me think the module isn’t providing sufficient power to the key. However, this doesn’t explain another problem: the door and trunk buttons on the key fob are not stopping the engine when pressed, which is unexpected behavior. Support mentioned they would research this further, but I’m hoping to gather more information in the meantime.

Beyond these primary concerns with the Bimmertech Key Fob, I’ve also noticed some peculiar secondary issues in both my F30 and F15 BMWs that seem related.

Firstly, the seat positions have become erratic in both vehicles. Initially, I thought this might be due to my spare key interacting with the remote start system, potentially reverting settings to that key’s last saved positions. However, this morning in my F15, even without using the remote start, the seat still shifted to an unfamiliar position. Furthermore, my saved seat positions don’t seem to be recalling correctly, adding to the confusion.

Secondly, there’s the matter of the side mirrors. I habitually fold my mirrors when parking in my garage and usually rely on the car to automatically unfold them as I drive off. Now, regardless of which bimmertech key fob I use, the mirrors immediately unfold upon starting the vehicle. Even stranger, yesterday in my F15, after turning off the engine and opening the rear door to retrieve my bag, the mirrors folded back out again unexpectedly.

While these seat and mirror issues are minor annoyances compared to the key fob range and button problems, they are nonetheless strange and seemingly linked to the remote start installation or possibly the bimmertech key fob functionality itself. It makes me wonder if the remote start system has optional configurable features, such as mirror folding and window controls, that are now conflicting with pre-existing coding or the standard BMW settings.

My next step is to remove the remote start key entirely and reset all my preferred seat settings while using only the primary bimmertech key fob. I’ll then reinstall the remote start to see if isolating the keys and resetting the seat memory helps resolve the unexpected seat position changes. Has anyone else experienced similar issues with their bimmertech key fob or remote start installations, particularly concerning key fob range, button functionality, or these secondary vehicle setting changes? Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I troubleshoot these bimmertech key fob related problems.
