Cadillac SRX Key Fob Replacement: A Step-by-Step Programming Guide

Losing or damaging your Cadillac SRX key fob can be a frustrating experience. Fortunately, replacing your key fob doesn’t always require an expensive trip to the dealership. If you’ve purchased a new key fob for your Cadillac SRX, you might be able to program it yourself right at home. This guide provides a step-by-step process for programming a new Cadillac SRX key fob, especially when you don’t have a previously recognized transmitter.

Programming Your Cadillac SRX Key Fob Without a Recognized Transmitter

This procedure is specifically for keyless access vehicles and is not available in Canada. It’s designed to help you program up to eight transmitters and will take approximately 30 minutes to complete. Ensure your Cadillac SRX is turned off and all the new key fobs you intend to program are with you before starting.

Here’s how to program your Cadillac SRX key fob:

  1. Initiate Programming Mode: Insert the vehicle key into the key lock cylinder located on the outside of the driver’s side door. Turn the key to the unlock position five times within a ten-second period. This action signals the vehicle to enter the key fob programming mode. You should see “REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT” displayed on the Driver Information Center (DIC).

  2. First 10-Minute Wait: Wait for ten minutes. The DIC will update to display “PRESS ENGINE START BUTTON TO LEARN”. Once you see this message, press the ignition button. The DIC will revert to showing “REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT”.

  3. Second and Third 10-Minute Waits: Repeat step 2 two more times. This means you will have a total of three 10-minute waiting periods. After the third cycle, all previously programmed key fobs will be deactivated. This is a security measure to ensure only the key fobs you are currently programming will work with your vehicle. The DIC should now display “READY FOR REMOTE # 1”, indicating the system is ready to learn the first new key fob.

  4. Place and Learn the New Transmitter: Locate the transmitter pocket in your Cadillac SRX. This pocket is situated inside the center console storage area, between the driver and front passenger seats. Open the storage compartment and lift the storage tray to access the transmitter pocket. Place your new Cadillac SRX key fob into this pocket.

  5. Finalize Programming: Press the ignition button again. When the new key fob is successfully programmed, the DIC will display a message confirming it is ready to program the next transmitter, if you have more than one.

  6. Verify Programming: Remove the key fob from the transmitter pocket. Press either the “lock” or “unlock” button on the newly programmed key fob to verify it is working correctly with your Cadillac SRX.

By following these steps, you should be able to successfully program a new Cadillac Srx Key Fob Replacement and regain full access to your vehicle’s keyless entry system. This DIY approach can save you time and money compared to dealership programming services.
