Lost your key fob or need to program a new one for your 2023 GMC Acadia? Don’t worry, programming your key fob can be done at home. This guide provides you with clear, step-by-step instructions for programming your 2023 Gmc Acadia Key Fob, whether you have existing recognized fobs or not.
Programming with Recognized Transmitters
This method applies if you have two working key fobs already programmed to your vehicle. Make sure you have all key fobs – the recognized ones and the new one – with you before starting.
-
Place your two currently recognized key fobs into the cupholder.
-
Locate and remove the key lock cylinder cap on the driver’s side door handle. Insert the vehicle key from your new key fob into the exposed key lock cylinder. Turn the key counterclockwise (to the unlock position) five times within a 10-second period. The Driver Information Center (DIC) will display “READY FOR REMOTE #2, 3, 4, ETC.”
-
Now, take the new key fob and place it into the transmitter pocket. This pocket is located beneath the liner at the bottom of your center console storage area. Lift the liner to access it.
-
Press the ENGINE START/STOP button. Once the new key fob is successfully programmed, the DIC will indicate it’s ready for the next remote programming.
-
Remove the newly programmed key fob from the transmitter pocket. Press either the UNLOCK or LOCK button on the key fob to finalize the programming. If you have additional key fobs to program, repeat steps 3 through 5. After programming all desired key fobs, press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for 12 seconds to exit the programming mode.
-
Reassemble your new key fob by putting the vehicle key back into the transmitter.
Programming without Recognized Transmitters
If you don’t have two recognized key fobs, you can still program new ones. Note that this process takes approximately 30 minutes and is not available in Canada. Ensure all key fobs you wish to program are with you.
-
Remove the key lock cylinder cap on the driver’s door handle. Insert the vehicle key of the key fob into the key lock cylinder. Turn the key counterclockwise five times within 10 seconds. The DIC will display “REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT.”
-
Wait for 10 minutes. The DIC will then display “PRESS ENGINE START BUTTON TO LEARN.” Press the ENGINE START/STOP button. The DIC will again show “REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT.”
-
Repeat step 2 two more times. After the third 10-minute wait period, all previously programmed key fobs will be erased. The DIC should now display “READY FOR REMOTE # 1.”
-
Place the new key fob into the transmitter pocket located in the center console storage area, under the liner.
-
Press the ENGINE START/STOP button. When the key fob is learned, the DIC will show it is ready to program the next remote.
-
Remove the key fob from the transmitter pocket and press the UNLOCK or LOCK button on the key fob. To program additional key fobs, repeat steps 4–6. Once you have programmed all your key fobs, press and hold the ENGINE START/STOP button for 12 seconds to exit programming mode.
-
Put the vehicle key back into the key fob transmitter.
By following these steps, you can easily program your 2023 GMC Acadia key fob and regain full access to your vehicle’s keyless entry features.
