Discover the New Volvo V60: The Epitome of the Modern Family Car

Volvo Cars has once again solidified its reputation as a leading manufacturer of vehicles that perfectly blend sophisticated design with everyday functionality with the unveiling of the new V60. This five-door, mid-size premium estate car is a testament to Volvo’s commitment to creating cars that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also cater to the practical needs of modern families.

Launched in a quintessential setting – the driveway of a family home in Stockholm – the V60’s debut location underscored Volvo’s long-standing heritage in producing family-oriented estate cars. This deliberate choice highlighted how the V60’s adaptable design is specifically tailored to meet the diverse demands and real-life scenarios of contemporary family life. Few automakers can boast a history as rich and credible as Volvo Cars when it comes to crafting well-designed, practical, and versatile estate cars, and the new V60 proudly continues this legacy.

“The estate car driver is a vital customer for our business, and they have been for generations,” stated Håkan Samuelsson, President and CEO of Volvo Cars. “The new Car V60 both respects and elevates this tradition to new heights.”

The new V60 shares Volvo Cars’ advanced Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform, a foundation it shares with the award-winning XC60 and the prestigious 90 Series models. This common platform has been instrumental in Volvo’s recent global sales success, providing a robust and refined base for the new estate. Utilizing the SPA platform, the V60 sets a new benchmark in the mid-size premium estate segment, boasting a luxurious interior, enhanced spaciousness, cutting-edge connectivity, and Volvo Cars’ latest advancements in driver support and safety technologies.

Robin Page, Senior Vice President Design at Volvo Cars, emphasized the V60’s significance within the brand portfolio: “The V60 truly represents the core of the Volvo brand. It is refined, possesses beautiful proportions and a confident stance, while crucially delivering on the promises of practicality and versatility that car v60 owners expect.”

In an innovative move for its class, the new V60 is accessible through Volvo Cars’ premium subscription service, Care by Volvo*. This service offers an alternative to traditional car ownership, providing access to the V60 for a fixed monthly fee, streamlining the experience of having a car to be as straightforward and hassle-free as owning a mobile phone.

Staying true to Volvo Cars’ pioneering commitment to vehicle electrification announced in 2019, the V60 presents two plug-in hybrid powertrain options. Customers can choose between the new T6 Twin Engine AWD petrol plug-in hybrid, producing a combined 340hp, or the more powerful T8 Twin Engine AWD petrol plug-in hybrid, delivering an impressive 390hp. For those preferring conventional powertrains, the petrol range includes T5 and T6 options, while diesel enthusiasts can opt for D3 or D4 engines, ensuring a broad spectrum of choices to suit various driving preferences.

Volvo has long been synonymous with automotive safety, and the new V60 further cements this reputation. It comes standard with a comprehensive suite of safety features, including advanced driver support systems inherited from the 90 Series and XC60. This makes the car v60 one of the safest vehicles on the road today. The City Safety with Autobrake technology is a standout feature, employing automatic braking and sophisticated detection systems to help drivers avoid potential collisions. Notably, it is the only system currently available that recognizes pedestrians, cyclists, and large animals. In a groundbreaking advancement, City Safety now also incorporates autobraking to mitigate oncoming collisions, further enhancing occupant and road user safety.

The Pilot Assist system, which provides steering, acceleration, and braking support on well-marked roads at speeds up to 130km/h, has been enhanced with improved cornering performance in the V60. Additional standard safety features include Run-off Road Mitigation, Oncoming Lane Mitigation, and other steering assistance systems. For even greater peace of mind, the optional Cross Traffic Alert with autobrake further elevates safety for both vehicle occupants and those outside the car.

Connectivity and modern infotainment are key aspects of the V60. Volvo Cars’ Sensus infotainment system is fully compatible with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and 4G, ensuring drivers remain seamlessly connected. The system is operated via an intuitive tablet-style touch screen, integrating vehicle functions, navigation, connected services, and entertainment applications into one user-friendly interface. The new Volvo V60 is more than just a car; it’s a statement of modern automotive excellence, blending Volvo’s esteemed heritage with forward-thinking technology and design, perfectly tailored for the demands of today’s families.
