DIY Fix for a Worn GMC Key Fob Cover

Is your GMC key fob looking a little worse for wear? Perhaps the rubber is worn, sticky, or covered in mysterious residue like mine was on my recently acquired CPO ’18 Terrain Denali. One of the key fobs I received was in rough shape, while the other was brand new – leading me to wonder if the dealer provides a new one for CPO vehicles or if they simply reprogrammed a spare. Regardless, the condition of the worn fob was an eyesore and unpleasant to handle.

Instead of immediately seeking a full key fob replacement, which can be costly, I explored options for just replacing the cover. My search for an affordable aftermarket Key Fob Cover Gmc online led me to eBay, where I found a vendor offering covers that closely resemble the original.

While the aftermarket key fob cover GMC isn’t a perfect replica – the rubber texture is slightly less gummy, and the plastic backing lacks the GMC logo and has a different texture – it’s a viable and cost-effective solution. To get the best of both worlds, I decided to try swapping just the front cover of the aftermarket fob onto my original GMC key fob. And it worked perfectly!

I purchased the key fob cover GMC for around $10 after a coupon code, although they are typically listed for about $15. There are even less expensive options available for around $8, which may have slight variations in appearance.
