Like many Mini owners, I recently encountered a perplexing issue: my mini key fob stopped working. It was incredibly inconvenient, forcing me to resort to the manual key to enter my 51 plate Mini One. This happened alongside another strange electrical quirk – my right indicator started flashing at an unusually rapid pace when signaling to turn right.
Seeking a solution, I took my car to the local dealership. Their diagnosis was quite alarming and expensive. They informed me that my car required a new BC1 unit, estimating the repair cost to be nearly £500! According to them, the BC1 unit manages the electrical components on the right side of the vehicle. Reluctantly, I authorized the work.
However, my relief was short-lived. Upon returning my car after the supposed repair, the right indicator was still flickering erratically! Naturally, I was quite upset. After a firm complaint, the dealership agreed to remove the new BC1 unit, reinstall my original one, and perform a reset of the BC1 system.
Surprisingly, this reset seemed to do the trick, at least temporarily. My key fob started working again, and the indicator returned to its normal flashing rhythm. Everything was fine… until recently.
Just today, while driving on the motorway and attempting to change lanes to the right, the dreaded rapid indicator flashing reappeared. While I’m hoping it was just a temporary glitch, I can’t shake the feeling that the problem with my mini key fob and the indicator might be linked to a failing BC1 unit after all.
To investigate further and see if others have experienced similar issues, I plan to start a thread online to gather information and advice.
If you’re also experiencing problems with your Mini Key Fob Not Working, and perhaps noticing unusual indicator behavior, it might be worth asking your mechanic to check the BC1 unit. It could be the source of your frustration too.
