For Acura NSX owners, finding reliable and reasonably priced service can be a significant concern. Many independent shops may lack the specific expertise for these iconic vehicles, while some dealerships might present quotes that seem excessively high. This was certainly the experience of one NSX enthusiast who sought quality care for their 1996 model.
Initially faced with a staggering $5,500 quote from a local Acura dealer for a comprehensive service, this owner decided to explore options further afield. Hearing recommendations for John Vasos at Acura of Brookfield, a decision was made to make the drive and experience their service firsthand.
The first visit in 2006 proved to be a revelation in terms of both cost and service quality. For approximately $2,500, a significant amount of work was undertaken. This included a full fluid replacement, installation of supplied Comptech headers and clutch, timing belt and water pump service (though the originals were still in good condition), valve adjustment, new exhaust installation (supplied), replacement of the “milk bottle,” a new oxygen sensor, water temperature sending unit, cam plugs, valve cover gaskets, and wiper blades. The team even attempted to address a slow tire leak. Throughout the three-day service, the owner was provided with a loaner vehicle and felt welcome to check on the car’s progress and speak with the mechanic, Steve. The presence of several other NSXs undergoing service at the same location further reinforced confidence in their expertise.
Returning to Acura of Brookfield in October 2015 for another service, the owner again sought the expertise of Steve. This time, the service list included timing belt and water pump replacement, HVAC head unit replacement, CV boot and band replacements, and a drive belt replacement. While the service remained efficient, completed in two days, the total Nsx Cost for this visit was $2,354. Although the work was done well, the owner noted that the price felt somewhat high for the comparatively shorter list of services performed compared to the first, more extensive service visit years prior.
With the departure of John Vasos from Acura of Brookfield and uncertainty regarding future service options, the owner now faces the dilemma of finding comparable expertise and value for ongoing NSX maintenance. Local Acura dealerships are not considered a viable option based on past experiences. This narrative underscores the importance of finding trusted specialists for NSX maintenance and highlights the potential variability in nsx cost depending on location and service provider. For NSX owners, researching and potentially traveling to reputable service centers can be a worthwhile investment to ensure their prized vehicles receive the best possible care at a reasonable price.
