System Preparation
Before programming your new key fob, you’ll need to prepare your Toyota RAV4 system. This step only needs to be done once.
- Get into your Toyota RAV4 and ensure only the driver’s door is open and unlocked. All other doors should be closed and locked.
- Within 5 seconds, insert your key into the ignition (do not turn it) and then remove it. Repeat this insert and remove action once more.
- Within 40 seconds, perform these actions: close and open the driver’s door twice, then insert and remove the key from the ignition again.

Remote Programming

- Within 40 seconds, press and hold both the LOCK and UNLOCK buttons on your new remote simultaneously for about 1.5 seconds, then release them.
- Immediately after releasing the buttons, press and hold the LOCK button for 2 seconds.
- Within 3 seconds, the door locks should lock and then unlock once to indicate successful programming of the remote. If the door locks cycle twice, the remote was not accepted, and you should repeat steps A and B in this section.
- Repeat steps 1-3 for each additional new remote you need to program.
