Jeep owners are all too familiar with the comically oversized factory key fob. It’s a common joke online, often depicted being towed behind the vehicle or taking up half the glove compartment. I recently upgraded to the Threedom Model M and Model S+, and the difference is night and day. The Model M is impressively compact, while the S+ is the only model that retains the traditional metal backup key. However, all Threedom fobs include a space for the factory RFID chip, ensuring you can still start your Jeep even if the fob battery dies. The S+ model also smartly utilizes the factory keypad. Installation of the first fob was a breeze. The second one presented a bit more of a challenge when removing the chip from the factory fob; it was more stubbornly adhered. I reached out to Threedom for advice, and even though it was after business hours, they promptly returned my call and offered helpful suggestions. With a little extra effort and carefully cutting some relief in the factory fob (don’t worry, it’s all internal and invisible once assembled), I managed to extract the chip. This minor hurdle was quickly overcome, and honestly, I can’t imagine ever going back to the factory fobs.
