Lost your 2011 Cadillac Srx Key Fob or need to program a new one? Don’t worry, you can do it yourself without a recognized transmitter, especially if you have a keyless access vehicle. This guide will walk you through the process to program up to eight transmitters for your 2011 Cadillac SRX. Please note that this feature might not be available in Canada. The entire procedure will take approximately 30 minutes. Ensure your vehicle is off and you have all the key fobs you wish to program with you before starting.
To begin the programming sequence for your 2011 Cadillac SRX key fob, follow these steps carefully:
-
Initiate Remote Learning Mode: Insert your 2011 Cadillac SRX vehicle key into the key lock cylinder located on the outside of the driver’s side door. Turn the key to the unlock position five times within a quick ten-second period. After performing this step correctly, the Driver Information Center (DIC) should display the message: REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT.
-
First Wait Period: Now, you need to wait for ten minutes. During this time, the system is preparing for the next step of the programming sequence. Keep an eye on the DIC. After ten minutes have passed, the DIC display will change to: PRESS ENGINE START BUTTON TO LEARN. Once you see this message, proceed to the next step.
-
Second and Third Wait Periods: Press the ignition button as prompted by the DIC. The DIC will revert back to displaying REMOTE LEARN PENDING, PLEASE WAIT. You must repeat step 2 two additional times. This means you will wait for another ten minutes until the DIC again displays PRESS ENGINE START BUTTON TO LEARN and press the ignition. Do this a third time. It’s crucial to complete this step three times. After the third repetition, all previously programmed transmitters will be erased and will no longer function with your vehicle. This is a necessary part of the process to ensure only the key fobs you are currently programming will work. The DIC display should now show: READY FOR REMOTE # 1.
-
Prepare the New Transmitter: Locate the transmitter pocket in your 2011 Cadillac SRX. This pocket is situated inside the center console storage area, between the driver and front passenger seats. Open the storage area and lift up the storage tray to access the transmitter pocket. Place your new 2011 Cadillac SRX key fob transmitter into this pocket.
-
Program the Transmitter: With the new transmitter placed in the pocket, press the ignition button. When the system successfully learns the transmitter, the DIC display will indicate that it is ready to program the next transmitter. You’ll see a message confirming successful programming.
-
Finalize Programming: Remove the transmitter from the transmitter pocket. To finalize the programming process and test the new key fob, press either the lock or unlock button on the newly programmed transmitter.
By following these steps, you should have successfully programmed your new 2011 Cadillac SRX key fob. If you encounter any issues or the programming is unsuccessful, it is recommended to consult your Cadillac SRX owner’s manual or contact a certified automotive locksmith or Cadillac dealership for further assistance.
