Honda Odyssey Key Fob Programming: A Step-by-Step Guide

Lost your key fob or need to program a new one for your Honda Odyssey? Don’t worry, you can easily program your Honda Odyssey key fob yourself with a simple procedure. This guide will walk you through the steps to program your remote quickly and get you back on the road. Remember, entering programming mode will erase all previously programmed remotes, so ensure you have all remotes you wish to program before starting.

Step-by-Step Programming Instructions

Before you begin, make sure you are inside your Honda Odyssey with all doors closed. Have all your key fobs, including any existing working ones and the new one you want to program, readily available. It’s recommended to remove the remotes from your key ring for easier handling. Each step must be performed within five seconds of the previous one. If you exceed this time, you’ll need to start the process from the beginning.

  1. Ignition Cycle Initiation: Insert your key into the ignition. Turn the ignition to the ON position (position II) and then press the LOCK button on one of your remotes for about one second. Release the button.

  2. Repeat Ignition and Lock Sequence (Three Times): Perform the following sequence a total of three times:

    • Turn the ignition to the ON position (II).
    • Press the LOCK button on the remote.
    • Turn the ignition to the OFF position (I).
  3. Enter Programming Mode: After completing the ignition and lock sequence three times, turn the ignition switch to the ON position (II) one last time.

  4. Programming Confirmation: Press the LOCK button on the same remote again. If the programming mode has been successfully entered, the door locks should cycle (lock and unlock) automatically. This indicates the system is ready for programming.

  5. Program the First Remote: Immediately after the door locks cycle, press the LOCK button on the same remote once more. The door locks should cycle again, confirming that this remote has been successfully programmed.

  6. Program Additional Remotes (If Applicable): If you have more remotes to program, repeat step 5 with each additional remote, one after another. You must complete step 5 for each remote within ten seconds of programming the previous one. You can program up to three remotes in total.

  7. Exit Programming Mode and Test: Turn the ignition to the OFF position (I) to exit programming mode. Now, test all your programmed remotes to ensure they are working correctly.

If your remote includes a trunk button, you may need to press and hold it for a few seconds for the trunk release function to operate.

By following these steps carefully, you should be able to successfully complete your Honda Odyssey Key Fob Programming and regain full remote functionality. If you encounter any issues, double-check each step and ensure you are within the five-second time limit between steps.
